Depression is no joke. The best way to get yourself out of it starts with you. You decide whether to let it control you or turn that grief into something that'll make you wiser. And for that you'll need support firstly from God. Second ,from the people around you. Third, a healthy environment.Stop moping around leaving everything on hold just because ur going through a depression. After all while u stop living by wasting your time crying over the things you cant change, time keeps tick-ticking away. Yes, u do need to give yourself time but not to the extend where your room is all messy and your life is all messed up. The most important thing is to not spend tooo much time alone.
If you are going through a depression or know someone who is, here are some #tips:
1. Give yourself time but not too long. I took a one week compassionate leave to be away from reality and it really helped me a lot.
2. Surround yourself with your loved ones, even if he/she wants to be alone. Insist on accompanying them even if it means not talking or speaking a word to each other. Its your presence that matters.
3. Do not speak of their loss until they themselves talk about it. And when they do, don't simply just brush them off. I know a lot of people do this, even to me. And trust me when I say, it does not help at all. Its not supposed to be a taboo topic. We really need to let it out and talk about it.
4. DON'T ask stupid questions like "dont you miss her?" or assumed we are not sad if we continue living our lives like normal. "ish dia tu tak sedih ke? gelak2 je aku tengok" haa.. wth. Yes, ive experienced this too, sadly.
5. The first few moments of going to the place that you normally go with the one you lost, WILL be hard. Especially when its the first time. But as my dad always tell me, "well, thats life for you" I guess you just have to suck it in, cry if you want too but have control of yourself. How? First, try to control your emotions, try your hardest not to cry in public. It'll feel something like a huge lump in your throat, a spider grabbing the insides of your nose. And your tears will just drop like an overfilled pail if you get what I mean. Dont be hard on yourself if you do. It means that you've been strong too long. :')
6. If you feel the need of talking to someone, then talk. Even if it means annoying your friends. They are not real friends if they get annoyed. "A true friend is someone who never gets tired of your pointless dramas over and over again"
7. And lastly, I know you'll hear this a lot but it WILL be okay because it has too. Just imagine the ones u love wouldn't wanna see u sad. They would be happy to see you happy , don't stop chasing your dreams. Move along with life.. I wouldn't say "move on" because they will be apart of you forever.
With that, thanks so much for reading, and hope it helps :)
p/s: I know I mentioned I will write something about "what really matters in life" I will, still working on it in my head. :p
